A Blantyre group has received over £2k in funding

A Blantyre toddlers group has received a huge funding boost thanks to South Lanarkshire Council.The Tiny Tots Toddlers Group received £2500 from a participatory budgeting exercise conducted by the local authority.Participatory budgeting allows local people to have a direct say in how public money is spent, and the Coatshill group benefited from a recent exercise.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The group is open to kids up to five years old.Lesley Douglas from the group welcomed the funding, she said: “This funding will allow us to expand our provision to two days per week, allowing up to 70 Coatshill families with children under five years to attend.

During the sessions children will learn, play and have access to healthy snacks.”South Lanarkshire Council Leader, Joe Fagan (East Kilbride Central North), praised the participatory budgeting process.He said: “The PB process gives local people the opportunity to decide where money should be spent in their local area and we are delighted with the plans the Tiny Tots group now have in place thanks to this funding.“I would encourage communities across South Lanarkshire to find out more and get involved in the PB process –
