Vicious and dangerous knives that have been used to take the lives of people across Greater Manchester will be banned later this year following a public outcry about the use of long serrated blades.

In legislation that will be brought before parliament tomorrow (January 25), anyone found in possession of a zombie-style knife or machete could face two years behind bars.

Since November 2020, there has been an average of 12 knife crimes taking place in Greater Manchester every single day, some involving zombie-style blades.

Despite attempts to ban zombie knives in 2016, a loophole allowed the long serrated blades to still be sold, so long as they did not have violent or intimidating imagery on them.
