In her own words, Zandra shares her biggest life lessons... I don’t have many memories of childhood, but I have one snapshot of me being very small drawing chalk butterflies in an air raid shelter during WWII.
I was born in 1940, so the chaos was still going. Those colours on the iron wall are the only memory I have of it. I’ve always loved colour. My wonderful mum encouraged me to do whatever I wanted and be whoever I wanted. Look at me now, a lot can be said for that!
My mum died of lung cancer when she was 45 so she never saw me achieve in my career. She did however see me leave college with a First-Class Honours degree and that makes me happy. Being different was an accident. I’ve been me for so long and looked this way for such a long
