There was unprecedented success for Stirling Albion Reds 2010 as they scooped SYFA Scottish Cup glory on Saturday morning. The under 14 squad saw off Edinburgh’s Lochend Football Academy in the showpiece final at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium to become the first side ever from Stirling to claim success in the competition.Leo Petale scored the only goal for the young Binos early into the second half, while goalkeeper Cammy Rae took home the man of the match award for his sixth clean sheet in nine games during a tight encounter that swung both ways.
Stirling then missed a number of chances to extend their lead, before Lochend piled on the pressure for a 15-20 minute period in an effort to get back into the match.
But the Reds weathered the storm to seal cup glory, with captains Tyler Morrice and Finlay Campbell hoisting the trophy in front of delighted family and friends who made the trip to Lanarkshire.
Morrice and Campbell celebrated with the cup wildly alongside team-mates Cammy Rae, Brodie Horne, Cian Gervaise, Ellis Davin, Charlie Hancock, Peter Siganos, Max Savenchuk, Leo Petale, Emmanuel Ngajieh, Stuart Wilson, Finlay Blythe, Michael Stanners, Archie Evans, Ozzie Underwood, Daniel Scott and Romeyo Duguid. They were joined in their celebrations by a proud coaching staff of Stuart Campbell, David Hancock, Richard Underwood, Nicky Brown, Stuart Jackman and Aoron Campbell.
