A young thug has been warned he might be sent to jail after he robbed a man at a bank machine after smashing his face with an empty Mad Dog 20/20 bottle.Finlay Main, 18, brutally assaulted Kyle McKendrick in Linwood’s Clippens Road in March last year and demanded that he gave him money.Main smashed an empty bottle of booze over McKendrick’s face, robbed him of £70 and then went on to make a catalogue of offensive homophobic and racial remarks to police officers in the Royal Alexandra Hospital.Procurator fiscal David McDonald told Paisley Sheriff Court: “Just after midnight on March 13, Kyle McKendrick was at the ATM at the rear of the Day-Today in Clippens Road.“McKendrick saw the accused running towards him and they engaged in a conversation.“The witness asked Main where he was from and he replied Kilwinning.“Main asked the witness what he was up to and he replied that he was lifting money when the accused then pulled out an empty Mad Dog 20/20 bottle from his jacket and stated ‘Give me your money then.’“Holding the bottle in his right hand, Main struck McKendrick to the left side of his face, making the bottle smash.“McKendrick was stunned and dazed from the impact.“The accused then stated ‘I’ve got a blade and I’d kill c***s for less.’“McKendrick tried to hold Main to prevent him hitting him further but both ended up on the ground in a struggle.” Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.
