A young Scots woman who suffered up to 20 seizures in one day has told of her 'unimaginable fear'. Caitlyn Cameron, 23, was diagnosed with rare brain condition Isolated Focal Cortical Dysplasia in June 2020 following an MRI after she took a violent seizure in October 2019.

The condition results in drug resistant epilepsy, making seizures difficult to control. The unexpected diagnosis turned Caitlyn's life upside down and as her seizures spiralled out of control, the Glasgow woman described the trauma as being so terrified she would seriously injure herself that she slept on the floor and crawled to the bathroom.Speaking to the Record, Caitlyn said: "The diagnosis turned my whole world upside down."The seizures consumed me and dictated my life every day.

I was locked inside my own head, locked inside my own body, with no control."I was having night time seizures and injuring myself, so we had to dismantle my bed and put the mattress on the floor."I was waking up with bruised ribs, carpet burns on my face and I constantly had bruise all over myself.

I got a lot of injuries."There were even times I woke up in states that were very degrading and embarrassing. I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror at those times."I was even crawling to the bathroom because I was too scared to standup."And it got to the point that going outside just wasn't an option.
