A carer who "loved looking after people" was found dead under a pier after struggling with bipolar disorder, an inquest has heard.
Samuel Latham, 32, was discovered under Southport Pier on Monday, October 24 last year after police were called to the seafront by a member of the public.
An inquest into the death of the support worker at Bootle Town hall on Wednesday, September 13, heard how the Southport man was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 19 and had struggled with it in the months leading up to his death.
Liverpool Echo reports that he struggled with mental health and drug and alcohol abuse, and had a "history of episodic low moods".
