You're opening Christmas crackers wrong – and there's 'ideal' time to pull them

What's Christmas Day without a cracker on the table?Not only do these come as part of British Christmas tradition, the items add a pop to turkey feasts with a small gift, seemingly obligatory bad joke and paper hat.

And of course, a cracker does seem pretty straight-forward as you just pull it, right?But that's where you're wrong as one expert seems to think people are opening their Christmas crackers incorrectly.

Liz Brewer, an expert on UK social behaviours and etiquette, explained the all-important method. She said: "When pulling your cracker, don't lean over other guests and mind your cracker doesn't go in the food.

You mustn't be sad should you not win the prize within the cracker. "Always congratulate the victor and never ever request to keep their toy, especially if it's a child.
