It's not long to go until votes are cast in this year's local elections. A new change introduced means people heading to polling stations to vote must have a valid form of photo ID on them.
When turning up, you’ll be asked for your name and address, as it appears on the electoral register, and you must prove who you are by showing acceptable photo ID.
This could include your passport, driving licence, or blue badge among other forms of ID. It does not matter if your ID is out of date - as long as the photo still looks like you and the name is the same as the one on the electoral register.
