Yellowstone” may want to have a word. In the Paramount Network series, which premiered the second half of its fifth and final season on Sunday night, the characters’ everyday uniforms are almost as beautiful as their Montana ranch.
Patriarch John Dutton wears large buckle belts, his daughter Beth has a wardrobe of silky blouses and riding boots and ranch hand Rip Wheeler is never without an open-crown hat.
The familial power struggle of the show, which follows the Dutton family as they compete for control over their family ranch, has been described as “Succession,” but with horses. “Succession,” but with cowboy boots also works. “Cowboy boots, jeans, belts…these are all trademarks of the Western style,” “Yellowstone” costume designer Johnetta Boone tells Variety. “It’s timeless, and it’s so iconic because the joy you get out of wearing Western wear transcends any other style.
You don’t typically wear any style from head to toe but with Western clothes, you do without hesitation. That’s the beauty of it.” Below, check out everything you need to tap into your own “Yellowstone”-inspired Western style: A wide-brimmed topper has their uses even when you aren’t grazing horses.
