‘Yellowstone’ spinoff with Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton possibly in the works at CBS — with 1 twist

Variety reported Wednesday that CBS is in “early discussions” to make a procedural series starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton.Plot details are under wraps and no deals are in place for the potential show yet, according to the outlet.

Deadline reported that the series would likely explore Kayce’s background as a Navy SEAL.Like “Yellowstone,” the spinoff would be produced by MTV Entertainment Studios.

The Post has reached out to CBS and Grimes, 41, for comment.Grimes played the youngest son of Kevin Costner’s John Dutton on all five seasons of “Yellowstone,” which finished its six-year run on the Paramount Network in December.In the series finale, Kayce sells the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch to Thomas Rainwater and the Broken Rock Indian Reservation for $1.25 per acre.

Kayce kept part of the ranch to live on with his family.Before the final episode aired, Grimes told Esquire “it was time” for the Western series to come to an end.“Seven years is a long time to do anything, and I had never played a character for more than a few months before.
