X-Men star James McAvoy applied to be an NHS volunteer to help fight the coronavirus pandemic. The Split actor has also donated £275,000 to equip doctors and nurses with protective equipment.

Speaking with James O’Brien on LBC, the actor explained: ‘I think we’re all desperate to try to find something to do and contribute in some way.
