Scotland's veterans minister took to Zoom and phone yesterday to hear the extraordinary tales of courage from VE Day heroes.Graeme Dey couldn’t do the visits in person but he caught up with four brave Scots who lived through the Second World War and emerged with extraordinary tales to inspire future generations.Among those were Lewis Nelson, 94, who signed up for the Home Guard at 15 before signing up to the full Army two years later.That led to him crossing the Rhine with the Royal Scots on the march through Germany on his 19th birthday.Dey said: “It has never been more important to honour and give thanks to the brave men and women who lived through the Second World War, than today.“So I was delighted to call Scottish veterans Gilbert
