Following news that Metrolink bosses are considering allowing dogs on trams, we want to hear what you think about the issue.

In our survey last week with more than 300 responses, 60% said they'd be in favour of allowing our canine friends on the tram while 40% were against it.

While there appears to be some split opinions on the matter, mayor Andy Burnham and Transport for Greater Manchester are looking to put a trial in place later this year. Let us know in the comments section. Some readers have already come out in opposition, with one saying: " I don't need it [the tram] stinking of wet dog and and worse with me sneezing everywhere as I have an allergy to them." Others offered a compromise as a solution, with one person saying: " I agree with letting responsible dog owners take their dogs on the trams. "I think it’s a great idea but not on all parts of the tram, maybe certain carriages can be categorised as 'dog friendly' so other passengers with any pet allergies or fear of dogs don’t need to sit near one." Another reader shared their experiences, saying: "My dog and I volunteer and are part of a charity called Therapy dogs Nationwide.

As I don't drive, we rely on public transport ALOT. This would make our journey to visits so much easier and direct." One person even went as far as saying: "Can the trams be full of dogs instead of people that would be much better." Let us know your thoughts on whether dogs should be allowed on trams in our comments section.
