Peperami launch veggie version of lunchbox staple - but not everyone is happy

Peperami sticks have long been a staple in children’s - and adult’s - lunch boxes ever since they were launched in 1979. But now, more than 40 years on, vegetarians can enjoy a version of the much-loved snack, too.

The brand have released a three pack of ‘Vegerami’ sticks, following the success of the brands Vegerami Chick’nless Bites. But not everyone is happy with the announcement.

The meat-free treat is suitable for vegetarians and flexitarians and are said to have been a ‘long-awaited release from hungry fans’ across the UK, according to Peperami. Peperami said: “With many Brits growing up with Peperami in their childhood, this big step will give those munching on meat-free Monday, at lunchtime or during the afternoon, a chance to enjoy another juicy snack to satisfy their cravings. “Perfect for snackers wanting to cut down on their meat intake, Vegerami offers a convenient option for when hunger strikes.
