Rafael Nadal is through to the third round of the Australian Open today, as he faces Karen Khachanov. However, his wife Xisca Perello has admitted she avoids watching his matches live in an unearthed interview.Xisca and Rafael have been romantically linked since 2005, and married in 2019.However, Rafa’s wife only occasionally appears on the sidelines at her husband’s games.Back in 2011, Xisca explained her reasoning behind this in a candid chat. She told the Telegraph at the time: "He needs his space when he is competing.“And just the idea of me hanging around and waiting on his needs all day tires me out."It would asphyxiate me.

And then he would have to be worrying about me... No.”She went on to add how she thinks if she did attend, it would put them at “risk”.She added to the publication: "If I followed him everywhere, I think there's a risk we might stop getting along."Xisca is a business graduate and works as an insurance worker. She also works as the project director of the Rafa Nadal Foundation.Back in October, she and Rafael’s mother even received awards for the work they’ve done with the charity. At the Women in Sports Awards in Barcelona, the pair were honoured for their contribution. The foundation was set up back in 2008 to help create equal opportunities in sport. In recent years, it has been involved in global relief efforts as well.Rafael and Xisca married back in 2019, after dating for 14 years. They tied the knot at the La Fortaleza castle in Majorca.Among those present at the ceremony were Juan Carlos I and other famous faces. However, his tennis rival Roger Federer was not among those who scored an invitation."I was not invited and I did not expect it," Federer said back in 2019 to Swiss German-language.
