Woman who woke from Covid coma had to learn to walk and talk again

A pregnant woman who had to be put into a coma as she battled coronavirus had to learn to walk, talk and eat again - and couldn't even remember giving birth.

Erem Ali, 29, was 31 weeks pregnant when she admitted herself to Royal County hospital due to struggling to breathe - she was also unable to feel her baby moving, suspecting she had coronavirus.

Doctors quickly confirmed she had Covid-19 and after her condition worsened, she was put into an induced coma while her baby had to be born five weeks early. Read more: Non-urgent surgery and appointments restart at Greater Manchester hospitals as Army called in The baby Zorayz Ali, now eight months old, was delivered via an emergency c-section on February 2, 2021 - she weighed 4lbs and 2oz shortly before Erem, was put into a coma.

Erem has reported that she has no memory of the c-section and didn't meet the baby when she was born. She remained in the coma for three weeks but worke up on February 22 - she still had difficulty breathing, suffering from blood clots and bowel obstruction.
