Woman who died after being hit by tram named as inquest opens into her death

A woman who was killed just before Christmas after being hit by a tram has been named. Chloe Jackson, of Fairfield Avenue, Droylsden, died on December 17 last year, an inquest heard.

She passed away after ‘coming into contact with a Metrolink tram’ on Market Street in the town, senior coroner Alison Mutch said today (January 20). READ MORE: Man who killed schoolgirl in collision found guilty of dangerous driving During the opening of the inquest in Stockport, Ms Mutch requested statements from Metrolink, Greater Manchester Police, and Chloe’s GP — as well as asking for CCTV footage from the incident to be shown in court. “Clearly, in view of the circumstances in which she came to her death involved her coming into contact with a Metrolink tram,” the coroner said. “An inquest is required.

I am going to request the full file from GMP, and her GP and obviously the police file should include a statement from Metrolink and CCTV.” Ms Jackson, 33, was identified by her fingerprints, police coroner’s officer David Wood told the court.

Ms Mutch added that toxicology reports had yet to come back from lab analysts. The inquest into Ms Jackson;s death will begin on July 25, 2022.
