Police are appealing for information after a woman was reportedly sexually assaulted on a bus. The alleged attack was interrupted by a Good Samaritan who intervened and helped her off the bus, according to officers.

It happened in Bolton on Wednesday, January 22 this year. The alleged victim had got onto a number 607 bus at Bolton Interchange.

A man and a woman then got on at the second stop, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said. "It’s believed that the man sat next to the first woman before he sexually assaulted her," the force said in an appeal on their Bolton district Facebook page. "Thankfully, the second woman witnessed the incident and interjected, before helping the victim exit the bus. "Police are now appealing for the woman who assisted the victim and anyone else who may have witnessed the incident to come forward, any information you have may assist with the progression of the investigation." GMP are asking the woman who 'kindly assisted', and anyone who may have information that could help their enquiries, to come forward..
