Woman killed after she's knocked down by Mercedes in street is named
manchestereveningnews.co.ukA pensioner who died after being knocked down in Heywood has been named. Emergency services were called Rochdale Road East on Thursday after an 85-year-old woman was hit by a car.
The woman - now named as Ruth Davenport - was taken to hospital in a serious condition, but later died from her injuries. Speaking at the time, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed that the driver of a Mercedes stayed at the scene speak to officers.

An inquest will open at a later date. A GMP spokesman said: "Officers from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for information after an 85-year-old woman died following a road traffic collision in Heywood.
