A woman gave herself a horrific bout of food poisoning after making a mistake while using her slow cooker. While making a vegan stew, Anne Sullivan found a white bean stew recipe and followed all the instructions to the letter.
These included pre-soaking the beans, then letting them simmer all day in the slow cooker, reports the Mirror. She found, however, that seven hours later the beans were still the same size.
Anne still took a bowlful of the stew with her to work and ate it, but found the beans to be "tough and chewy".She began to feel faint and dizzy, adding: "I must have looked awful, too, because my boss told me to go home and get some sleep.
I felt like throwing up."She began to feel a bit better and the next day served up more of the stew for both her and her partner.
