Woman appears in court charged with murder after death of pensioner in Hamilton

A woman has been charged with murder of a Scots a pensioner at a property in Hamilton. Louise Markson, from Wishaw, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court today, Friday, January 17, on the murder charge.

The 50-year-old made no plea and was remanded in custody. She will appear at court again in eight days. Susan Sergison, 78, was found by police after they were called to a property on Gilmour Drive in the South Lanarkshire town on January 15.

Forensic teams were seen combing the house in Hamilton yesterday afternoon.Following the discovery of Susan's body, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.25pm on Wednesday, 15 January, 2025, we were called to a report of a woman seriously injured within a house in Gilmour Drive, Hamilton."
