Cassandra Scott, 35, appeared before a judge after being charged with the murder of 58-year-old Beverley Scott. Ms Scott, who appeared via video link, was not asked to enter a plea during a short hearing at Manchester Crown Court.
She only spoke to confirm her name. A trial date was set for January 11 next year, which could last for two weeks. Manchester's courts are some of the busiest in the country with a vast array of cases heard every week.
