Vision Taekwondo Club are bursting with pride after their athletes impressed at British and European competitions recently – and one member of the squad was selected for the Great Britain Development Team.The Wishaw outfit are on a high after claiming five medals at the British National Championships in Sheffield and two prizes at the Riga Open in Latvia.To top off a memorable month, Ava Bett was selected for the GB development programme.
The GB Development Programme is designed as the stage prior to the full time academy team.Athletes train in a world class environment and have access to coaching and sport science support, including strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, nutrition and psychology.Thrilled Vision coaches Craig and Ross Eden are over the moon for Ava.A statement from the brothers read: “We are delighted that Ava has been selected to join the Team GB Development Team for 2023/24.“Ava made her way through three phases of this year’s Talent Draft.
She will now train with the best junior athlete’s in the UK every other weekend at the home of GB Taekwondo in Manchester.“Ava has had an incredible year, winning three international medals at European Ranking events and becoming National Champion.“We are certain that Ava will thrive in this environment and continue to show her world class potential.”The British National Championships took place over the weekend September 30-October 1 at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, with 1000 competitors from across the UK taking part.Ava Bett won gold in Junior female under-59kg, as did Kaila Sloan (Junior female under-63kg) and Kayden Paton (Cadet male under-57kg).Kirsty Marshall (Senior female under-62kg) and Flora Falconer (child female under-40kg) both won
