Motherwell and Wishaw MSP Clare Adamson has said that social security is a “crucial safety net” following First Minister John Swinney outlining his long-term vision to eradicate child poverty across Scotland.The First Minister set out that tackling child poverty in Scotland will be rooted in three key pillars: a dignified and generous social security system; people-centred public services; and through a positive education system.In North Lanarkshire, the SNP’s Social Security System already supports families through the unique Scottish Child Payment, and Best Start Grant package.From next year, the Scottish Government will mitigate the UK Government’s two child benefit cap.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
