A Wishaw girl successfully tackled the Pretty Mudder kids course at Strathclyde Park to raise cash for Cancer Research UK.Eight-year-old Sophie Young took on the course and raised over £500 for the charity.And the primary four Wishaw Academy Primary pupil was delighted with the medal she received for completing the course.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

We are proud as punch for him.“Sophie’s dad regularly does the Kiltwalk and she has always wanted to do that but it’s quite a long way so we thought she was a bit wee for that.“When we found out about the event at Strathclyde Park she was desperate to do it.“The obstacle course was difficult for her but I was able to walk around with her and give her some encouragement.”Sophie was able to take her medal into school on Monday to show it off to friends.And Lynne revealed Sophie got some extra cash in the charity coffers on her way home.“We were delighted that she raised so much money,” said Lynne.“We had went down to Strathclyde Park on the bus from Wishaw and on the way Sophie had her charity tin and the driver very kindly asked the passengers to put in some coins to her tin.”Since it began in 1994, more than 10 million people have taken part in Pretty Muddy and Race for Life events
