Wishaw community foodbank issues urgent call for donations as stocks dwindle

A foodbank in Wishaw has issued a desperate call for help as its food supplies run precariously low.Volunteers at South Wishaw Church run a number of vital support services for people in the local community, including Wishaw Community Foodbank.An increase in user numbers coupled with a reduction in donations from supermarkets and individuals has left the foodbank low on many of the items they usually stock.The foodbank opens to the public twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday mornings.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The numbers of people using the service have gone sky-high. We’re just not getting the stocks replenished quick enough. We can’t quite put our finger on why it is, it seems that people are feeling the pinch and food is just so much more expensive than it was.“I help run a Scout group and we’re going to camp and Asda kindly donated £40 for us to buy food supplies,
