Forecasters have issued another warning for icy weather in Greater Manchester this weekend. But with a bit of luck we might have seen the back of the snow...
for now. Blizzards brought treacherous conditions with drivers left stranded for more than seven hours on the M62 near Rochdale last night.
National Highways North West estimated that at one point congestion on the eastbound carriageway between Rochdale and Saddleworth stretched to around eight miles.
A warning for ice issued for Greater Manchester remains in place until 10am on Saturday, while another snow and ice warning has been issued for northern England on Saturday into Sunday morning.
