Wilfried Zaha has spoken for the first time about being left homeless at the age of six while growing up in London. In an interview with The Telegraph, Zaha revealed his family moved out of their house, a short walk from Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park ground, and into a shelter because his parents were “struggling to make ends meet”.
Zaha, who had moved to London from the Ivory Coast at the age of four and is the second youngest of nine siblings, then had to live with relatives until his family eventually found a new home in nearby South Norwood.
The Palace star, who could line up against Wolves in the FA Cup tonight, has said the experience of losing his home has never left him and is a reason why his charity work is so important to him..
