Wiley responds after Marcus Rashford apologises for taking photo with him

Wiley has responded to the backlash over his photo with footballers Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard, who were forced to apologise.  Earlier this week, a photo circulated on social media of the rapper posing with the Manchester United stars in a Dubai nightclub on Sunday.

However, it was highlighted that Wiley was embroiled in an anti-Semitism scandal after allegedly making offensive comments about the Jewish community in 2020.

Following apologies from both Rashford and Lingard, a video emerged on social media of Wiley addressing the controversy surrounding the photo.

He said: ‘Mate, whoever wants to take a picture with each other, just let them take pictures mate. If I see one of my friends in a picture with someone I do not like, I’m not gonna make up a fuss, I just carry on with life.  ‘Let people take pictures with whoever they want, mate. ’ In his statement, England footballer Rashford said: ‘This picture has been brought to my attention which I understand now, given context, could easily be misconstrued. ‘I would like to reinforce that I do not and will not condone discriminative language or behaviour of any kind aimed at the Jewish community or any other community. ‘I truly believe that tackling antisemitism in and outside of the game requires a greater level of attention and should very much form part of the game’s anti-racism stance. ’Rashford has previously spoken out against racism and was widely hailed for his response last year after becoming a target for abuse following his missed penalty in the Euro 2020 final.
