Wigan Warriors' woeful injury luck has taken a fresh turn for the worse with John Bateman and Zak Hardaker set for spells on the sidelines.
Former Bradford Bulls and Canberra Raiders star Bateman was forced off during the first half of Friday’s 26-24 defeat at Warrington’s Halliwell Jones Stadium and was on crutches afterwards.
Bateman will undergo a scan but Warriors head coach Adrian Lam is hoping the injury will sideline him for only a short period as he nervously awaits a diagnosis.
And to make matters worse, Hardaker has joined their lengthy casualty list with a worrying neck injury. The full-back has been banned for the Warriors’ past two games after being sent off in the 48-0 defeat at Catalans Dragons on May 29.
