His motivation for doing so was never clearly stated, although many assumed it was a ploy to get out of his contract with his longtime label, Warner Bros.

Records. He announced the decision in a statement that read, “It is an unpronounceable symbol whose meaning has not been identified.

It’s all about thinking in new ways, tuning in 2 a new free-quency.” Since, obviously, the symbol did not exist on a computer keyboard, Warner Bros.
