Hundreds of flights across the UK have been cancelled and delayed over the past two days leaving passengers stranded and throwing holiday plans into chaos.
The issues started on Monday and by the afternoon 232 flights departing UK airports had been cancelled and 271 arriving flights, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium.
The disruption is continuing on Tuesday as flights up and down the country continue to be cancelled and delayed at airports across the country including Manchester, Heathrow, East Midlands and Birmingham. As a result the automatic system that provides controllers with details of every aircraft and its route had stopped working.
