Why 'Chicago Fire,' 'Chicago Med,' & 'Chicago P.D.' Are Skipping New Episodes on NBC Tonight

Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. just wrapped up their winter hiatuses last week…but are already airing rerun episodes this week!

Fans might be wondering why NBC decided to do this for their three hit TV shows. Well, it actually was not planned this way. Keep reading to find out more… The One Chicago franchise was originally supposed to air new episodes, however, President Joe Biden will be making his farewell address to the nation beginning tonight at 8:15 pm ET.

This would mean NBC would have to cut Chicago Med‘s new episode in the middle to air the President’s speech. As a result, NBC likely decided to pull all three shows and air older episodes instead.

They will all three return next week with brand new episodes on NBC. If you did not see, NBC just announced their first TV show renewal of 2025 (and it’s unfortunately not for any of the One Chicago shows.)
