White Lotus' Incest Storyline Has a 'Purpose,' Show's EP Teases 'There's a Specific Reason' For the Twist

One of the executive producers of The White Lotus, David Bernad, is speaking to that incest storyline.

If you didn’t see the scene in question, after the Full Moon Party in season 3, episode 5, Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) and Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood), along with brothers Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola), hang out on Greg’s yacht.

At one point, Saxon tells the women to kiss, and then they expect the brothers to do the same. After Saxon and Lochy share a little peck, Lochlan goes in for a much longer kiss, which appears to disorient and confuse Saxon.

Now, David was asked if there was any discussions that this scene – and perhaps future scenes – were taking it too far. Keep reading to find out more… “No, in terms of that — that’s all [creator Mike White]. Mike is brilliant, and I think those big story turns are not just for shock,” David told The Post. “There’s a specific reason in terms of the narrative storytelling, and the larger thematic idea Mike is trying to get across.” He added that “as the season wraps up, you’ll see the purpose of that story turn.
