EXCLUSIVE: Sam Nivola, a stand-out in Season 3 of The White Lotus, is set to lead the new Bobby Farrelly comedy Driver’s Ed, which enters production in North Carolina next week.
He joins a cast that also includes Kumail Nanjiani and Molly Shannon, as previously announced. Written by Thomas Moffett, with AGC Studios to co-produce and fully finance, Driver’s Ed centers on a group of teens who steal their school’s driver’s ed car to go on a road trip to help a high school senior (Nivola) track down his college-freshman girlfriend and win her back.
No details yet on the roles to be played by Nanjiani and Shannon. AGC International launched sales at the European Film Market in Berlin, with additional castings to be announced soon.
UTA Independent Film Group is co-repping US rights with AGC. Producers include Jonas Pate (Outer Banks, Amazon’s upcoming The Runarounds), Jennifer Pate (The Runarounds), and David Stone, co-founder of TFC Management and TFC Productions.
