Women affected by a change to state pension age, which was not communicated properly, should be compensated, according to a report published today (March 21).
The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman confirmed that thousands of women may have been affected by the Department for Work and Pensions' (DWP) failure to properly inform them of the change.
Women Against State Pension Inequality (Waspi) claims millions lost out due to the change. The group has been campaigning for compensation as it states retirement plans were damaged as a result of the change.
The ombudsman has been investigating the issue for five years.
