Petrol and diesel prices remain high across the UK, with the average litre of unleaded petrol costing 163.07p, according to the latest RAC figures.
Prices at the pump have fallen very slightly since Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced a 5p cut to fuel duty in March. RAC Fuel Watch data recorded a new record-high price of 167.3p only the day before the fuel duty cut was implemented (March 22).
Now, UK government figures on fuel prices from the last 20 years show just how much they have ballooned. Data crunched by Express.co.uk from 2004 to 2022 show an uptick of nearly 100p — a staggering amount when compared to wages and annual growth rate alongside rising costs in other aspects of life. All these locations are within 15 miles from the centre of Manchester and all data was collated from PetrolPrices.com. Petrol prices can vary depending on supply and demand.
