Rain is expected to hit the region later this week, as the UK recorded its hottest day of 2023 so far. According to the Met Office, Thursday (September 7) was provisionally the hottest day of the year so far, with 32.6C recorded in Wisley, Surrey.

In Manchester, the weather remained hot throughout the day, with highs of around 28C. Conditions were sunny and dry with overcast spells.

Despite the soaring temperatures, which are expected to remain in the high 20s until Sunday (September 10), there is a chance of showers hitting the region before the end of the week. Although temperatures will remain a warm 26C, there could possibly be some drizzle throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
