Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

When will supermarkets and shops reopen after the Queen's funeral

Today is officially a bank holiday for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and multiple retailers announced they would be closing their doors as a mark of respect.Supermarkets and high-street stores have confirmed they will be closed to allow staff members and customers to pay respects and watch the late monarch's funeral.

The Queen's funeral will officially begin at Westminster Abbey at 11am this morning and anyone looking to get in some last minute essentials might find that they are unable to do so for the rest of today.

Most supermarkets and retailers will be reopening as normal from tomorrow, but some smaller convenience stores will open their doors after the funeral today at around 5pm.

We have rounded up below the full list of confirmed reopening times for supermarkets and retailers across Scotland.All Aldi stores across the country are closed for the bank holiday and will reopen for normal operating hours tomorrow, Tuesday, September 20.Similar to their rival, Lidl have confirmed they will be closed entirely today and will be reopening all stores from 7am tomorrow, Tuesday, September 20.All Asda stores will be reopening today after the Queen's funeral at 5pm, but there will be no online deliveries available until tomorrow.Morrisons will be reopening for normal hours from tomorrow, Tuesday, September 20.
