Tory leadership candidates Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss will be going head-to-head live on TV tonight to argue why they should replace Boris Johnson.
Previously, Ms Truss made headlines for her £8.8 billion policy pledge to cut the public sector wage bill by paying workers in cheaper areas of the country less than those in the more expensive parts.
However, she has now abandoned the proposal following outrage from her fellow Conservative Party members who warned it would lead to a "levelling down" of the nation.
The U-turn was welcomed by fellow candidate Mr Sunak who said it would have led to "almost half a million workers in Wales getting a pay cut".
