A brand-new LGBTQ+ drama is coming to Netflix soon, based on the acclaimed million selling graphic novel series by writer Alice Oseman.

Heartstopper began back in 2016 as a webcomic, amassing a huge following with over 52.1 million views. Oseman went on to crowdfund a limited print run of the series before having volumes one and two of Heartstopper published by Hodder Children’s Books in 2019.

Now, Heartstopper has been adapted into a Netflix drama starring Kit Connor (who has appeared in Rocketman and His Dark Materials) and Joe Locke (an up-and-coming star) as Nick and Charlie, the book’s central characters.

In a press release, Alexi Wheeler, Director of Kids and Family Content at Netflix, described the show as “a story that deserves to be told,” going on to say, “It was clear right away that Alice [Oseman, writer/artist] not only had created these brilliant and emotionally engaging characters, but the world they populated was relatable yet somehow aspirational.” READ MORE:What we learned from the new Stranger Things season 4 trailer “The whole thing is just so poignant and beautifully crafted.
