But only for punters outdoors. As part of Step 2 of the lockdown in England, restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars were allowed to reopen from April 12 with outdoor seating.
Non-essential retail was also able to open up, along with outdoor attractions such as zoos and theme parks, as well as gyms and libraries.
So, you may be wondering when you'll be able to go for a pint or meal with friends and family indoors. According to Boris Johnson's roadmap, this will be permitted no earlier than May 17 - as part of Step Three.
