But it is the premise of BBC2's latest offering, Together, which airs tonight at 9pm. It is a new one-off film by the man behind Billy Elliot, Stephen Daldry, and Dennis Kelly who won multiple awards after writing the script for Matilda the Musical.
It also stars just two main actors - and not bad ones at that. James McAvoy and Sharon Horgan star as just 'she' and 'he' in Together, which tells the story of a struggling couple, who have spent years quietly hating and avoiding each other in their own home.
