direct to your inboxRishi Sunak has announced an extension to the stamp duty holiday amid the pandemic.The Chancellor unveiled the government's plan to extend the tax break by three months, giving homebuyers extra time to complete sales.The stamp duty holiday, which was introduced last July to encourage the housing market, has been extended until the end of June from March 31.This means that anyone who purchases a property that completes by June 30, 2021 won't have to pay tax on the first £500,000.The Chancellor said to 'smooth the transition back to normal', the nil rate band will be £250,000 - double its standard level - until the end of September.The usual level of £125,000 will return on October 1.
