Manchester United remained top of their Champions League last night as forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s late leveller against Atalanta spared his side's blushes, after they twice fell behind.

In terms of upcoming European fixtures for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, United face a tricky trip to face Unai Emery’s Villarreal on November 23, before hosting current Swiss champions Young Boys on December 8.

With work still to be done to ensure qualification to the knockout stages for the first time since 2018-19, United's fate is still firmly in their own hands — but defeat in Spain in just three weeks’ time could through a spanner in the works.
