The Coronation of King Charles III will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday and will follow five traditional elements.
These are the Recognition; the Oath; the Anointing; the Investiture and Crowning; and the Enthronement and Homage, and the Queen Consort’s coronation.
The most sacred part of the coronation ceremony will be the moment King Charles III is anointed. This is the moment when The King is anointed with holy oil and is the central act of the religious ceremony. Instead, Charles will be shielded by a new partition, featuring an embroidered design celebrating the Commonwealth. Behind the screen, Charles will wear a simple white shirt, representing that he comes before God as a servant.
