The cause of Liam Payne's death has been officially confirmed following a UK inquest. The 31-year-old singer tragically died after falling from the third floor of the Casa Sur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16.A post-mortem examination revealed that the former One Direction star succumbed to multiple traumas and internal and external bleeding.
Authorities have dismissed the possibility of suicide, suggesting instead that Payne might have been in a state of "semi or total unconsciousness" when he fell, reports the Mirror.During the inquest, Dr Roberto Victor Cohen determined the medical cause of death as 'polytrauma', which is associated with severe accidents, such as car crashes, falls, amputations and burns, leading to multiple injuries across various organ systems.
Polytrauma is so severe, it is often suffered by people living or working in conflict zones. The NHS describes polytrauma as a critical condition that can result in disability or be life-threatening.
If people survive, symptoms can be severe pain or bleeding, loss of memory, headaches, and impaired decision-making skills.Payne's body was discovered in an internal patio of the boutique hotel, having sustained "severe injuries which were incompatible with life".
