Diet Coke is one of the most popular soft drinks in the world, but even just one can impacts the body. That's according to one pharmacist, who has shared what negative physical effects that arise just one hour after finishing a cold can - from toothaches to blood sugar disruptions and even stronger thirst.

Like most beverages, the health risks of Diet Coke are minimal when drunk in moderation. However, studies have shown that too much of it could cause weight gain and possibly depression. This is down to one of its main ingredients named aspartame, which last year was listed as "possibly carcinogenic" by the World Health Organization (WHO).

However, the health body said its findings are based on "limited evidence". The effects of drinking a can of Diet Coke can apparently be seen in just one hour, with an impact seen 10, 20, 40, and 60 minutes after finishing that last sip, reports the Mirror.

Qualified pharmacist Niraj Naik, best known as The Renegade Pharmacist, went viral back in 2015 with an infographic about how Diet Coke affects a person within that first post-drink hour and says tooth enamel is attacked within just ten minutes.
