Voters in the state of West Virginia have gone to the ballot box for the US presidential election 2024. A new president is being elected for the United States of America, with people across West Virginia in cities including Morgantown, Martinsburg and Charleston deciding between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris.
In the last presidential election in 2020, Trump got 68.62% of the vote in the state and Joe Biden 29.69%. Ahead of the election, Trump was expected to easily win the state in 2024. While the winner is often declared on the night - the final result will not be known for days.
Whoever does win will serve four years in the White House, starting from their inauguration on January 20, 2025. Ahead of the election, Democrat Joe Biden was president - however, he announced in July that he would not be standing for re-election and was replaced on the ticket by Harris.
